Copper and copper oxides – Behaviour

Copper (Cu) and copper oxide (CuO) particles can be taken up by different types of cells.

There is no direct evidence that copper or cooper oxide particles cross biological barriers.

Overall, there are very little data on the environmental behaviour. In a comparative study of several nanomaterials, nanoscale copper showed a relatively good mobility in artificial soil.
