Copper and copper oxides - Exposure

So far no epidemiological data on copper or copper oxide nanoparticles are available.

Currently, there are no data regarding the environmental exposure to copper and copper oxide nanoparticles. In general, copper and copper compounds are naturally present in soils and waters.

Copper (Cu) and Copper oxide (CuO) particles induce a cytotoxic response due to their release of copper ions.

The in vivo studies for copper (Cu) and copper oxide (CuO) nanoparticles show different perturbations on liver, kidney or neuronal functions at high doses due to the release of copper ions.
