Delegates Networking During Conference Lunch Break

From 4th to 5th May 2017 scientists from research and industry meet up in Karlsruhe for the annual NanoCare Cluster Meeting 2017 to present and discuss current results and progress in nanosafety research generated in the project context of the BMBF funding initiatives NanoCare and ERA-Net SIINN. The event is organised by the project DaNa2.0 on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the project management agency Juelich (PtJ). Interested guests are welcome to attend and participate in this two-day event.

Industrially produced nanoparticles offer potential for a wide range of products. Further research regarding the impacts of nanoparticles on people and the environment is needed. The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) funds projects together with industry to fill knowledge gaps and to initiate measures to identify and minimise risk.

The NanoCare funding initiative is part of the Hightech Strategy of the German Federal government. It aims at innovation and growth of the industry in Germany. A close cooperation between companies and research institutes in the university and non-university sector, the involvement especially the contributions of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as the exploitation of the project results in Germany is of outstanding importance. The European funding initiative ERA-Net SIINN (Safe Implementation of Innovative Nanoscience and and Nanotechnology) promotes the safe and rapid transfer of European research results in nanoscience and nanotechnology (N&N) into industrial applications. National and regional resources are virtually pooled to create a transnational research program. National research resources of the participating Member States are bundled and complementing each other for a common strategic objective.

At this year's NanoCare Cluster Meeting 2017, the participating projects of the funding initiatives NanoCare and ERA-Net SIINN are going to present their current findings on various nanosafety aspects in the form of oral and poster presentations.
