What exactly are nanoparticles? What is meant by “exposure”? When do toxicologists speak of a risk? This and many more questions regarding research on safety aspects of nanomaterials are answered here: www.nanoobjects.info
The special edition on nanosciences of the research report 2015 offers an insight into the research highlights of the past two years happening at the University of Duisburg-Essen. The especial edition is published in both German and English.
Using textiles to fish for noble metals, producing customised nanomaterials or optimising LEDs are just some of the highlights that were happening in the laboratories of the researchers from the Center for Nanointegration Duisburg-Essen (CENIDE) during the last 2 years. And since these researchers are not sitting in the proverbial ivory tower, they managed to make their scientific discoveries accessible and tangible for the public, for example during the WissensNacht Ruhr at the NanoEnergieTechnikZentrum, at fairs and symposiums as well as during the anniversary celebration "10 Years CENIDE".
The special print "nanosciences" of the research report 2015 is accessible via the following link https://www.uni-due.de/imperia/md/content/cenide/forschungsbericht2015.pdf.
The Center for Nanointegration Duisburg-Essen (CENIDE) has coordinated research and teaching in nanoscience at the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE) since 2005. It brings together the expertise of over 65 research groups from the natural and engineering sciences and medicine in work ranging from basic research to fabrication and processing of functional nanomaterials. CENIDE is one of the largest nanoscience research groups in the German-speaking world and cooperates closely with various partners including non-university research institutions and notable names in industry.
