{"id":15500,"date":"2021-05-21T13:52:07","date_gmt":"2021-05-21T13:52:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nanopartikel.info\/?p=15500"},"modified":"2022-09-20T14:49:59","modified_gmt":"2022-09-20T12:49:59","slug":"stakeholder-befragung-zur-ueberpruefung-der-empfehlung-zur-definition-von-nanomaterialien-jetzt-teilnehmen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nanopartikel.info\/en\/stakeholder-befragung-zur-ueberpruefung-der-empfehlung-zur-definition-von-nanomaterialien-jetzt-teilnehmen\/","title":{"rendered":"Stakeholder Befragung zur \u00dcberpr\u00fcfung der Empfehlung zur Definition von Nanomaterialien \u2013 Jetzt Teilnehmen!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/index_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">European Commission<\/a> has been performing a review of its Recommendation on the definition of <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;Nanomaterial&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;The European Commission updated the common definition of the term &amp;quot;nanomaterial&amp;quot; in 2022:&amp;lt;br \/&amp;gt;&lsquo;Nanomaterial&rsquo; means a natural, incidental or manufactured material consisting of solid particles that are present, either on their own or as identifiable constituent particles in aggregates or agglomerates, and where 50% or more of these particles in the number-based size distribution fulfil at least one of the following conditions:\n&amp;lt;ol&amp;gt;\n \t&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;one or more external dimensions of the particle are in the size range 1 nm to 100 nm;&amp;lt;\/li&amp;gt;\n \t&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;the particle has an elongated shape, such as a rod, fibre or tube, where two external dimensions are smaller than 1 nm and the other dimension is larger than 100 nm;&amp;lt;\/li&amp;gt;\n \t&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;the particle has a plate-like shape, where one external dimension is smaller than 1 nm and the other dimensions are larger than 100 nm.&amp;lt;\/li&amp;gt;\n \t&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;In the determination of the particle number-based size distribution, particles with at least two orthogonal external dimensions larger than 100 &mu;m need not be considered.&amp;lt;\/li&amp;gt;\n&amp;lt;\/ol&amp;gt;\nHowever, a material with a specific surface area by volume of &amp;lt; 6 m&amp;lt;sup&amp;gt;2&amp;lt;\/sup&amp;gt;\/cm&amp;lt;sup&amp;gt;3&amp;lt;\/sup&amp;gt; shall not be considered a nanomaterial.&amp;lt;br \/&amp;gt;https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/environment\/chemicals\/nanotech\/pdf\/C_2022_3689_1_EN_ACT_part1_v6.pdf&lt;\/div&gt;\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>nanomaterial<\/span> (<a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/DE\/TXT\/?uri=CELEX:32011H0696\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2011\/696\/EU<\/a>). It has now launched a targeted stakeholder consultation to update, test and verify the preliminary findings of this review. Further evidence and feedback will be gathered from a wide range of stakeholders who have a role in application of the harmonized regulatory definition of nanomaterial in the EU. <strong>The online consultation is open until 30 June 2021.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The consultation aims to:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Verify or complement the findings of the review<\/li>\n<li>Gather precise and structured technical feedback on the identified technical elements of the definition that could be addressed by changes to the definition<\/li>\n<li>Gather input on the impact of the changes under consideration: would they influence (different) classification of specific materials placed or emerging on the market?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>You can share your expertise and contribute to efficient application of European legislation to nanomaterials by participating in the consultatiuon via the following link <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/environment\/chemicals\/nanotech\/review_en.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/environment\/chemicals\/nanotech\/review_en.htm<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The European Commission has been performing a review of its Recommendation on the definition of nanomaterial (2011\/696\/EU).
