The documents help registrants in fulfilling new legal requirements for nanomaterials that apply from 1 January 2020.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A new <strong>Appendix for nanoforms to the Guidance on Registration and Substance Identification<\/strong> has been developed. It aligns ECHA&rsquo;s guidance with the revised <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;REACH&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;Short for&amp;lt;em&amp;gt; Registration, Evaluation, Authorization of Chemicals. &amp;lt;\/em&amp;gt;REACH is the novel EC regulation no. 1907\/2006 that has been in force since June 1, 2007. For further information see https:\/\/echa.europa.eu\/regulations\/reach\/understanding-reach&lt;\/div&gt;\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>REACH<\/span> annexes for nanomaterials that enter into application on 1 January 2020. The document explains the term nanoform, provides advice on how to build and justify sets of nanoforms and explains what characterisation information needs to be reported.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Appendix for nanoforms applicable to the Guidance on QSARs and Grouping of Chemicals<\/strong> has been updated to reflect the advice of the above-mentioned guidance. The update also clarifies the differences between creating a set of nanoforms and <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;read-across&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;is regarded as a technique for predicting endpoint information for one substance (target substance), by using data from the same endpoint from (an)other substance(s), (source substance(s)). Read-across must be, in all cases, justified scientifically and documented thoroughly&lt;\/div&gt;\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>read-across<\/span> for justifying the use of hazard data between different (sets of) nanoforms of a substance.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>ECHA will keep updating the existing guidance for human health and environmental information requirements during 2020.
