{"id":6217,"date":"2019-10-08T08:30:02","date_gmt":"2019-10-08T08:30:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dana.ggiants.de\/euon-study-finds-eu-regulatory-framework-ready-for-the-next-generation-of-nanomaterials\/"},"modified":"2019-10-08T08:30:02","modified_gmt":"2019-10-08T08:30:02","slug":"euon-study-finds-eu-regulatory-framework-ready-for-the-next-generation-of-nanomaterials","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nanopartikel.info\/en\/euon-study-finds-eu-regulatory-framework-ready-for-the-next-generation-of-nanomaterials\/","title":{"rendered":"EUON: Study finds EU regulatory framework ready for the next generation of nanomaterials"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A study commissioned by the EU nanomaterials observatory (<a href=\"https:\/\/euon.echa.europa.eu\/\" title=\"EUON Website\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">EUON<\/a>) has found that the current EU regulatory framework for characterising and identifying &ldquo;next generation&rdquo; nanomaterials is able to address the majority of them and that no significant changes will be needed in the near future.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Background<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Member States voted to revise the <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;REACH&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;Short for&amp;lt;em&amp;gt; Registration, Evaluation, Authorization of Chemicals. &amp;lt;\/em&amp;gt;REACH is the novel EC regulation no. 1907\/2006 that has been in force since June 1, 2007. For further information see https:\/\/echa.europa.eu\/regulations\/reach\/understanding-reach&lt;\/div&gt;\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>REACH<\/span> annexes to include specific information requirements for nanomaterials manufactured or imported on the EU market in quantities above one tonne. The new requirements apply from 1 January 2020 and will enable companies and authorities to systematically assess the hazardous properties of nanomaterials, how they are used safely, and what risks they may pose to our health and the environment.
