is a rare cancer of the connective tissue, e.g. of the pleura. Since these tumours are often associated with an ingestion of asbestos, this disease is also called asbestosis. The time from ingestion to the appearance of the tumour can be over 40 years. This is also the reason why deaths from asbestos are still recorded in Europe, even though asbestos has been banned for 30 years.
