Graphene - Behaviour

First information on the distribution of graphene-related materials in the body is generated in studies with the aim of biomedical applications. A recent literature study of 34 research articles draws the conclusion, that so far most of the graphene-related materials reveal no harmful effects.

The uptake of various graphene-related materials was proven for different cell types.

There are only very few studies on the behaviour of graphene nanomaterials in the environment, focusing on surface-modified graphene. Graphene nanomaterials are highly mobile in soil and water bodies, and are able to bind other compounds.
